Georgia is a familiar face to many in Oldwick; she and her husband own The Magic Shop in the heart of this historic village. The shop was founded by her mother-in-law, Lib Schley, Lib’s sister, Mayor Watts Hitchcock, and Lib’s sister-in-law, Eleanor Todd. It operates for the benefit of The Bonnie Brae School for youth at risk in Liberty Corner.
A longtime area resident, Georgia grew up in Peapack and has lived in Whitehouse for 40 years. She believes in giving back to the community, and is president of the board of trustees for the Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton; trustee of the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton; and serves on the finance and endowment committees of the Lamington Presbyterian Church. Past volunteer positions include trustee and co-chair of the Capital Campaign for Bonnie Brae School; trustee and co-chair of La Belle Boutique fundraiser for Far Hills Country Day School; and elder and co-chair of the Capital Campaign for the Lamington Presbyterian Church.
Living in the Somerset and Hunterdon County area for most of her life gives Georgia unique insights about local schools, architecture, neighborhoods, recreation, shopping and dining, as well as cultural and social activities. She is a member of the Somerset Hills Country Club, the Essex Hunt Club, the Colony Club in New York City and the Edgartown Yacht Club. Her civic involvement resulted in Georgia receiving the Historic Preservation Award from the Garden Club of Somerset Hills.
A graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, Georgia also attended the University of Munich when she lived in Germany as a newlywed. She is married to Reeve Schley III, an artist and teacher. The couple has two grown children, two grandchildren and two dachshunds.
