Before entering the real estate field, Katie was an intake specialist for a law firm where she honed her customer service, research, communication and organizational skills. She also has experience as a customer service manager for a local business, a role that involved close contact with clients and employees, improving service, time management and strategic planning.
Joining the sales team in Chatham is a natural progression for Katie, whose mother is Susan Barba, one of the office’s top agents. Additionally, her father, John Barba, is a home builder. Katie explains her motivation to become a sales associate, “Since I can remember, I was accompanying my mom to preview houses, or going to a new construction site wearing a hard hat with my dad, and I have to say that the houses are probably my favorite aspect of real estate, although I also really appreciate the ability to interact with people as much as real estate allows. To meet new people and get to learn about them, as well as help them find a place to call home, is really remarkable.”

In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her Catahoula Leopard dog Bowie and her cat Wednesday. She is an avid traveler who has visited most of the East Coast and recently starting to explore the West Coast and southern states. Other interests include the arts, ceramics and pottery, reading short stories and essays, viewing documentary and classic films, fashion, astrology and exploring regional food options both on vacation and at home.
