Description

A stunning custom-built Bucks County Colonial in Chester Township is a grand retreat privately positioned on five verdant acres.  Surrounded by nature, a quiet country lane leads to this impressive residence.  High ceilings, lavish molding treatments and hardwood floors with inlays are among the notable characteristics. Inside, an impressive yet welcoming double-height foyer and sweeping staircase hint at the elegance to come.

The living room anchored by a carved mantle fireplace and flanked by bookcases also features extensive detailed moldings and French doors to the great room.  An adjacent dining room is generously-scaled and served by a butler’s pantry with solid and glass display cabinetry, a sink and granite counters.  Details in the magnificent great room include soaring coffered ceilings, a full-length stone fireplace and oversized windows, all of which combine to create an unforgettable atmosphere.  Beyond, an exquisite entertaining bar is conveniently positioned beside the great room and classic English library. Designed with solid and seeded glass cabinets, a refrigerator, sink, granite countertop and wine storage, this space leads to the library presenting French doors, a fireplace, wood wainscoting and floor-to-ceiling windows.  A formal powder room serves this part of the home. The expansive custom kitchen contains luxurious amenities such as high-end cabinetry, an extensive island and separate dining area.  A fabulous mudroom includes multiple closets, an informal powder room, side entrance and rear staircase.

Upstairs, the tray ceiling master suite with custom-mantled fireplace connects to a spa bath, separate water closet, dressing room with vanity and sink and dual walk-in closets.  Four more generously-sized bedrooms-- two sharing an adjoining bath and two offering private en suite bath-- along with a laundry room and walk-up attic complete this level.

The partially-finished walkout lower level provides high ceilings and roughed-in plumbing for a future full bath.  Outdoor living spaces include the covered porch, bluestone patios with stone fireplace and stone walls, all set amid rolling lawns and mature landscaping.

Chester Township, NJ real estate market

About Chester Township

When talking about Chester in southwestern Morris County, you need to distinguish between the Borough of Chester, which is the shopping village, and Chester Township, the surrounding area which is decidedly more rural. At about 1½-square miles, the borough is located at the intersection of Routes 206 and 24 and offers quaint streetscapes lined with one-of-a-kind boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. Chester Township includes 29.8 square miles of farmland, newer residential developments and historic homes.

Incorporated in 1799, over 40%--or 12 square miles--of the township is preserved as open space. There are nature reserves, parks and deed-restricted agricultural property under the state Farmland Preservation Program, which buys the development rights while allowing the farmer to retain title and continue working the land.

The Borough of Chester was incorporated in 1930, and is a separate municipality that shares many services with the township such as a library, first aid squad, fire department, community pool, athletic programs, civic organizations and schools.
