Description

Enduring symbols of a vibrant rural tradition, barns are readily the heart and soul of a new generation of imaginative country houses.  Poised on 4.26 pastoral acres, this circa 1800 barn was converted to a residence in the 1970s. Today, the home’s 2007 transformation bestows light-filled open spaces and maximizes nature-driven energy resources while preserving the home’s rustic native spirit.

French Country style is as much a way of living as an architectural form.  It’s being outside as readily as indoors; it’s the leisurely enjoyment of family and friends; and La Grange captures it all.  The ever-flowering back patio, directly accessible from the kitchen, features a pergola-crowned dining area, a fire pit, and a roof-sheltered hot tub.  The 70-unit lighting system allows entertaining to continue well into the night.

Remnant stone walls and hand-hewn barn beams shape and order the space.  In the Great Room, relaxing and special gatherings take place beneath the 28-foot cathedral ceiling anchored by original truss beams.  The room’s lofty height allows natural light to pass along the structure’s east-to-west axis, brightening all in its path.  Four generously-sized bedrooms, including two master suites, are each accompanied by a bathroom for additional calm and privacy.

Provence’s warm hues and tones of grayscale blue colorfully wash surfaces in the country kitchen.  Robust appliances are embedded in cottage-inspired custom cabinetry while tiled countertops are inset with whimsical bucolic scenes.  Windows in the breakfast room capture the morning sun.  A sheltered sanctuary, the second floor master bedroom enjoys its own wing with a walk-in fitted closet and convenient laundry room tucked behind sliding barn doors.

Providing all season comfort throughout the home are radiant heat with 11 dedicated heating zones and 3 separate cooling zones.  Solar and geothermal energy systems guarantee maximum efficiency and very low energy costs.

The small village of Glen Gardner is charming with its 18th century inn. This location is also close to downtown Clinton with its restored antique homes, offering everything from restaurants and museums to quality shopping.  Interstate 78 is a convenient five mile-drive away, allowing for an easy commute without the noise and traffic of a nearby busy thoroughfare.

stunning & dramatic living space. The 2 MBR, on the 1st and 2nd floors, are very generously sized, featuring majestic cathedral ceilings. A versatile 2-story lofted artist's studio/in-law suite w/full bath completes the presentation. The uncompromising quality continues to the exterior's 40 year roof, cedar siding & stone work. A private patio directly off the kitchen has a pergola for dining & a gazebo over the hot tub. Equally impressive is the average $175/month combined cost for radiant heat, AC & hot water, a result of the incredibly efficient "green" geothermal & solar technology systems. A true gem.

Lebanon Township, NJ real estate market

About Lebanon Township

Tucked into the northernmost corner of Hunterdon County, Lebanon Township’s longstanding rural heritage can be witnessed on a drive through its 32-square mile borders.  Bucolic landscapes include an abundance of wide open spaces, conservation land, parks and working farms.  The township’s terrain is characterized by acres of forests, rivers, streams, gorges and mountain ranges.

With approximately 6,500 residents, the township borders both Warren and Morris Counties, offering access to a network of local and interstate highways. Surrounding towns include Washington Township, Long Valley, Clinton, Readington, Califon and Annandale.

The first record of Lebanon Township appears in 1731, and it was incorporated as one of New Jersey’s first 104 townships in 1798. Back in the 1700s and 1800s, small hamlets had names like Woodglen, Anthony, Red Mill and Bunnvale. Bunnvale was named for a prominent area land holder named Bunn, and Bunnvale Road is named in his honor.  Hoffman’s Crossing Road traversing the South Branch of the Raritan River was named for the local family who ran a basket factory. Today, the Woodglen General Store is a reminder of a simpler time. A sign outside the store was placed by the Hunterdon County Cultural Heritage Commission, recognizing it as one of the few remaining general stores from the mid-1800s.
