Mendham Boro NJ

A Mendham Borough treasure, this classic Greek Revival is beautifully updated throughout. The circa 1780 home effortlessly blends traditional and modern design elements.  A graceful mahogany covered wraparound porch  invites star gazing on a summer night or warm weather relaxation overlooking manicured grounds.  Wonderful honey-hued wide plank pine floors and true divided light windows throughout contribute to the authentic and impeccably-maintained layout.

The living room features a wood-burning fireplace and windows overlooking the covered porch.  A formal dining room with a second wood-burning fireplace is convenient to the kitchen. The renovated kitchen is outfitted with custom Shaker-style cabinets, granite countertops, a farm sink, stainless steel appliances and open shelving.  A rough-hewn ceiling beam spans the vaulted dining area, juxtaposing the old and new in an original way.  The kitchen's side entrance is charming and convenient. A lovely family room opens to the kitchen and features doors to the pretty side porch and backyard patio.

The classic front hall staircase with mahogany banister leads upstairs to four spacious bedrooms, a second updated full bath and rear stairs to the family room.  A full walk-up attic provides ample storage space.

This Revolutionary War-era home in Mendham Borough offers a sought-after in-town location. The property features a level and private backyard with majestic tall trees, a bluestone patio and a three-plus car garage in the barn.

Vintage home lovers will appreciate the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own this antique residence and experience the convenience of in-town living.

Mendham Borough, NJ real estate market

About Mendham

Ranking first in New Jersey Monthly’s 2013 “Best Places to Live” survey, residents of Mendham Borough enjoy the historic setting of this quaint six-square-mile community--located in Morris County and surrounded on three sides by Mendham Township, with Bernardsville (Somerset County) to the south--plus the conveniences of a walkable downtown featuring boutique retail shopping and dining options, like the historic Black Horse Inn and Tavern. Other nearby stores located in the Village Shopping Center include a supermarket, pharmacy, and a hardware store as well as additional specialty retailers.

Traditions abound in Mendham Borough, with annual events that bring residents together to meet and mingle.  Music is in the air during the summer concert series and outdoor movie nights, when neighbors picnic in Borough Park.  The annual Labor Day Carnival and Parade is capped off by fireworks that signals it’s back-to-school season.  In December, kids and adults alike bundle up and sip hot cocoa as they warm their hands at the annual 12th Night Bonfire of Christmas trees, organized by the volunteer fire department.

Many children walk to the Borough’s public schools, Hilltop Elementary and Mountain View Middle School, greeted along the way by crossing guards whose smiles are familiar to all after their many years of service.  The West Morris Mendham High School is also located in Mendham, drawing students from Mendham Borough and Mendham Township, as well as the neighboring communities of Chester Borough, Chester Township and Washington Township.
