For centuries, Chatham has provided a welcome stop for travelers and merchants along the Fishawack: the Lenni Lenape Indian’s term for the Passaic River. In 1971, Chatham’s Chamber of Commerce turned that idea into a lively downtown festival, a tradition that’s evolved into an annual celebration of friendship, charm and community pride. This year’s Fishawack Festival occurs on Saturday, June 8 from 10am to 4pm at Reasoner Park and throughout downtown Chatham.
Activities will include sidewalk sales from Chatham merchants; outdoor dining; hand-made crafts and artwork; show-and-tell displays on everything from honey bees to planting trees plus fun and games for kids of all ages.
Shop from area crafters and vendors, visit the Kids’ Fun Zone, enjoy live entertainment at the Gazebo Stage and Grand Lawn Lum Stage as well as Pop-Up entertainment. Other features include a Food Court, outdoor pub, Car Show in Railroad Plaza North, Shop Local Chatham, Senior Lounge, Borough Hall Volunteer Recognition and the 19th Amendment Celebration.
The Fishawack Festival is a rain or shine event. For additional information on this event contact Festival Manager Janice R. Piccolo with any questions at 973-635-0674 x 200 or email Janice at jpiccolo@chathamborough.org.
