Reeves-Reed Arboretum is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. Its estate and gardens represent design trends by prominent landscape architects of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Lenni Lenape Native Americans passed through the property on their route from the coastal areas near Elizabeth to Schooley’s Mountain, further inland. During the Revolutionary War period, the area was adjacent to the Old Sow Revolutionary War Cannon and the Signal Beacon atop Beacon Hill.
Summit is located on the second ridge of the Watchung Mountains in Union County; it measures just over six square miles and is home to about 21,000 residents. Situated 25 miles from Manhattan, commuters enjoy a quick 30-minute ride on NJ Transit’s Midtown Direct trains to Penn Station. Equally significant is the fact that this picturesque town has beautiful residential neighborhoods as well as acres of green space and an attractive shopping district filled with one-of-a-kind stores and eateries.
