Community Event: Plays in the Park, Bernards Twp.

Bernards Township Parks and Recreation Department presents a Trilogy Repertory Production of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid.” Free performances begin at 8PM on July 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 27 at the Pleasant Valley Park amphitheater. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair for seating. Cancellation notices due to weather will be posted at bernards.org.

The Pleasant Valley Park amphitheater is located next to the VA Hospital in the Basking Ridge section of the township.  Bring a blanket, chair and flashlight since the musical ends after dark. Consult the daily weather since there is no rain site for the performances.

“The Little Mermaid” is directed by Jaye Barre of Basking Ridge, with musical direction by Joe Lesky of Somerset and choreography by Kristin Sarboukh of Bound Brook.  The musical is based on Disney’s 1989 animated film of the same name and the classic story by Hans Christian Andersen about a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea. The underwater setting and story about aquatic characters will require unusual technical designs and special effects.

The musical originally opened on Broadway at the Lunt-Funtanne Theater on January 10, 2008, running for 685 performances and receiving two Tony award nominations. Theatergoers will recognize the songs “Part of Your World,” originally sung by Sierra Boggess in her Broadway debut, as well as “Under the Sea.”

Lively outdoor cultural events like this production of The Little Mermaid and as well as performances by live musical groups and outdoor movies make living in Bernards Township even more appealing.  If you are interested in living in Bernards Township or would like to learn more about Basking Ridge real estate, luxury homes for sale in Bernards Township, or luxury homes for sale in New Jersey, we would enjoy meeting you.  Contact one of our five office locations in Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, Mendham, Chatham or Oldwick, or call us directly at 877-788-7746.
