A group of hardworking Turpin Real Estate Associates spent the day at LifeCamp in Pottersville, New Jersey last week pitching in to help them gear up for the summer program. Beginning in July, around 300 Newark area youths travel to LifeCamp to enjoy fun and sun at the day camp. Campers are between the ages of 6 and 13, and come from the greater Newark public school system as well as from Newark Charter School Programs.

The sweltering summer heat did not stop our team from spending the day painting, cleaning up and organizing. Because COVID-19 kept LifeCamp from running last summer, there were many tasks to complete so the campus is ready for campers next month and our associates were eager to help with the preparations.

A highlight of the day was learning more about the camp itself. Here are a few interesting facts we learned:
-
For many of the campers, coming from an urban environment, LifeCamp is where they learn to swim and ride a bike for the first time.
-
The campus is located on 90 acres with plenty of activities for campers to learn. Activities like nature and science, percussion orchestra, a recording studio, ropes course, dance, and more!
-
Former campers are hired as staff, which enhances the culture and reinforces values such as respect and responsibility.
Turpin is excited to continue outreach in support of LifeCamp. “Our team was truly energized by the mission of LifeCamp, and we were so honored to assist in preparing the campus for this year's campers,” said John Turpin. “It was a rewarding day of hard work, and served as a great reminder of how fortunate we all are to enjoy life in this special area.”
