There will be an artists’ reception featuring the works of painter Shy Raguso and fine art photographer Sandy Ross in an event titled “Terra Incognito: Two Artists, One Passion for Trees.” Whittemore is hosting the reception on Saturday, November 16 from 3 to 5PM.

Come by and meet the artists, view the show and consider purchasing a limited edition work for yourself or for holiday gift-giving. Proceeds from the reception benefit the Friends of Whittemore. Whittemore is located at 7 Rockaway Road in Oldwick. For tickets, call 908-439-1201 or order online at whittemoreccc.org/upcoming-events

Shy Raguso is a New Jersey-based artist whose paintings in watercolor or oil explore the emotional energy, light, colors and textures found in the environment. She is especially drawn to the untouched, tangled, wild local woodlands and forests in the area. She is also inspired by the life lessons trees teach us about life: strength, fragility, endurance and weathering the

storms.

Sandy Ross, a resident of Tewksbury Township, is a fine art photographer with a passion for capturing the beauty of local people, animals, plant life and bucolic scenery. Sandy is

interested in making images that contribute to stewardship of the earth, though she finds that mystery and humor appreciably flavor her viewpoint as she scopes out what makes our surroundings interesting, remarkable, appealing - or just plain beautiful.

Hosting these two artists at Whittemore is a perfect fit for the peaceful setting in Oldwick that stimulates awareness, appreciation and understanding of the total environment- natural, altered, human, and historic - among people of all ages. Formerly known as Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary, the local attraction is now called Whittemore: Community, Culture and Conservation.

Located in the former home of Helen Whittemore, the Whittemore House includes a Welcome Center, Artist-in-Residence Studio, Art Exhibits, Classrooms, Snack Bar and Bathrooms. Whittemore is situated on over 180 picturesque acres with 11 miles of nature trails that wind through woodlands, meadows, vernal ponds and the Rockaway Creek and River.
