The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills invites friends, neighbors, members and current and former trustees to their 90th Anniversary Community Celebration on Saturday, September 15 at the Brick Academy parking lot. From 2 to 5pm, the outdoor celebration will include a free barbecue, birthday cake, giveaways and live music from Basking Ridge’s own Café Racers. The rain date is Sunday, September 16.

During the celebration, the Brick Academy will be open for self-guided tours that include exhibits representing the history of local towns including Bernardsville, Bernards Township, Bedminster, Far Hills, Peapack and Gladstone. The Collectors’ Cabinet pop-up exhibits highlight Cruciverbalism: The History of Crossword Puzzles and 90 years of Historical Society history artifacts. Upstairs is a refurbished 1890s school room.

Free parking is available nearby at Oak Tree Elementary School, and this celebration is sponsored by Oak Tree Networking Group comprised of local small businesses.

The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills was founded in 1928. Their mission is to acquire, conserve and share local artifacts and information on matters of local historic interest; cultivate interest in local history; encourage the preservation of local historic resources; facilitate historic research; and preserve, operate, and interpret the Brick Academy
