Visit the Tewksbury Historical Society Museum on Select Saturdays
“Preserving Tewksbury’s History for Generations to Come” is the motto of the Tewksbury Historical Society located at 60 Water Street in the historic village of Mountainville. For those interested in exploring the area’s rich history, the society’s headquarters will be open on two Saturdays in February: February 8 and February 29, from 9am until noon. The museum and headquarters are housed in a portion of the old Municipal Building/Mountainville Meeting Hall.
Current museum displays include information about the Rockaway Valley Railroad, the restored Stryker Dollhouse and original vintage wines from the former Tewksbury Winery. Gifts such as Tewksbury afghans, notecards, prints, historical booklets and art prints are also available for sale in the museum.
This active historical society hosts fundraisers throughout the year including a Tag Sale in April, Tewksbury House and Garden Tour in June, a Barn Tour in July, Art Exhibition and Sale in November, Covered Dish Supper and Program and a Christmas Antique Show, both in December.
